About The Partnership
The Partnership for a Safer Cleveland is an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to increasing safety through collaborative, educational, and programmatic initiatives.
The experts at the Partnership serve as consultants and resources to public and private groups working to prevent and lessen violence in their communities. The Partnership uses their broad experience, training, and relationships to bring key leaders from the justice system, law enforcement, schools, business, community groups and the media together to help solve problems, design effective programs and create policies that these organizations and agencies eventually implement themselves long term.
Highlights
The Partnership concentrates its efforts on the following activities for 2006:
- identification and diversion of at-risk youth, 9 to 18 years of age;
- training of law enforcement, court, and social service personnel in best practices for working with at-risk youth; and
- promotion of programs and public policies that support youth and their families.
Partnership Highlights of 2005
- Provided consulting services for Community Re-Entry of the City of Cleveland
- Advised Cleveland Municipal School District regarding its billboard campaign to reduce school violence
- Facilitated review of Family & Children First Council planning efforts and brokered an agreement on recommendation for Cuyahoga county's development strategy for 13-18 years
Partnership Highlights of 2004
- Provided consulting services to the Cleveland Youth Diversion Program and Juvenile Court Diagnostic Clinic
- Coordinated Teen Summits to improve communications among youth and police
- Provided joint training to Cleveland police, Juvenile Court probation officers, and school security personnel
- Developed program to help police officers deal with job-related stress, introducing best practices of the US Army
Partnership Highlights of 2003
- Trained foster parents in working with troubled youth
- Reviewed operations of the Juvenile Court Diagnostic Clinic
- Provided coordination and management services to the Cleveland Diversion Program
- Rewarded local providers of youth services with 300 tickets to Cleveland Browns football games.
- Developed a gun violence prevention curriculum for the Cleveland Municipal School District
- Trained 90 Juvenile Court probation officers on issues facing youth - gangs, substance abuse, and mental health.
- Coordinated Cleveland Bar Association Volunteer Day at the Cuyahoga County Youth Development Center
- Participated in the Begun Center public policy study trip to Amsterdam
- Trained 1800 Cleveland police officers in youth-focused practices
