Last week, the City of Cleveland officially appointed former U.S. attorney and Magistrate Judge Greg White to oversee the implementation of a settlement with the U.S. Justice Department.
Judge White will be in charge of coordinating the city's work to implement the settlement over police use of force. Judge White will be a liaison with a police department unit's tasked with implementing the settlement and the monitor. Judge White served on the Partnership's Board of Trustees since 2012, and his resignation from our Board was effective as of March 31st. We want to thank Greg for his support and commitment to the Partnership, its mission, Board and staff. We are excited about his new opportunity to assist our city in its efforts to exceed the goals and objectives of the consent decree. Best of luck, Judge!! Below is an agenda for Saturday's Meeting. It’s that time of the year again: PHILANTHROPIA! We are proud to say that The Frangos Group continues as the Platinum Sponsor of this luncheon. (Thanks, Lou, for providing this fundraising opportunity – especially for the small nonprofits like us!) With the holiday season right around the corner, we are setting our sights toward another successful event and, like every year, we are asking that you contribute through PHILANTHROPIA to help support the Partnership. Even if you cannot attend the event on December 7, we are requesting your support in the form of a donation to help us close out 2015 with a bang. It would be very helpful if you could encourage your own networks to support the Partnership by attending the luncheon, or contributing, as well. Every single donation helps! As you know, 2016 is a big year for us: it marks our 35th year of helping to make Cleveland safer. We are looking forward to celebrating this milestone. What better way to kick off such a momentous new year than by ending 2015 with our best fundraising event yet? Last year, we brought in almost $8,000 but I am positive we can top that this year. So let’s make this year’s Philanthropia our most successful yet! The donation form is below. Thank you in advance! The Cleveland Foundation board of directors has approved $2.5 million in grants for the month of October.
A focus of the foundation’s October funding supports programs promoting youth development and the overall well-being of young people in our community. “Youth development has long been a priority focus of the Cleveland Foundation,” said Robert E. Eckardt, executive vice president of the Cleveland Foundation. “Now more than ever, it is imperative we continue to support programs that keep Cleveland’s youngest residents safe, healthy and positively engaged in our community.”
